Lectors

Proclaiming God’s Word at Mass
Lectors serve the parish by proclaiming the Word of God during Mass. They typically read the first and second Scripture readings and may lead the Prayer of the Faithful. The Gospel is proclaimed by a priest or deacon.
This ministry calls for more than reading aloud. Lectors prepare by spending time with the Scripture passages before Mass, then proclaim them clearly and reverently so the congregation can listen, reflect, and respond to God’s Word. Their service helps make the Liturgy of the Word a meaningful part of our worship together.
“Proclaim the word.” — 2 Timothy 4:2
