Register your child for our Faith Formation at Saint George in kindergarten through 12th grade! Please complete a separate registration form for each child participating. The registration fee is $75 per child and helps cover instructional materials, program resources, and activities provided throughout the year. If you are not members of Saint George, you will need to submit written permission from your pastor. K-5th Grade Classes
Our Faith Formation classes for children in kindergarten through fifth grade are held from September through May, typically three Sundays each month from 10:30–11:30am in Saint George School. Through age-appropriate lessons, prayer, and activities, students grow in their relationship with Jesus while learning the foundations of the Catholic faith. Second-grade students prepare for First Reconciliation (held in March each year), while third-grade students prepare for First Holy Communion (held in May each year). Children age seven or older must be baptized before beginning sacramental preparation. Middle School Edge Program (6th-8th Grade)
Our Edge program, developed by Life Teen, offers students in sixth through eighth grade an engaging and welcoming place to grow in their Catholic faith. Through interactive lessons, prayer, activities, small-group discussions, and fellowship, students explore how their faith connects to the challenges and experiences of everyday life. Edge helps young people deepen their relationship with Jesus, build meaningful friendships, and feel more connected to their parish community. Confirmation, Purpose Program (9th Grade)
Our Confirmation preparation sessions use Life Teen’s Purpose program to help young people deepen their relationship with Jesus, understand the Catholic faith, and prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Through engaging lessons, prayer, discussion, and reflection, students explore what it means to live as committed disciples of Christ. Purpose is held September through March/April (depending on our confirmation date), see the calendar above for our scheduled session times! Please note that the date and time of Confirmation is scheduled by the Diocese of Erie Office, not Saint George Church.
Confirmation Requirements
Your student will need to choose a sponsor. Sponsors must be a Confirmed and practicing Catholic over the age of 16 and should be someone who has been a strong role-model in their faith. This cannot be the candidate’s parents. Since Confirmation is the completion of Baptism, one’s godparent may be chosen for this role. Sponsors must provide us with a Sponsor Form from their home parish. If your sponsor belongs to Saint George Church, please have them stop by our rectory office to complete their Sponsor Form.
The candidate is to choose the name of a recognized Saint as their Confirmation name and write a report on that Saint. The report should be a short biography of the Saint in the candidates own words. All Confirmation names chosen by the student must conform to specific guidelines that will be outlined in their coursework.
A total of 20 volunteer service hours are required. The ‘Confirmation Service Hour Verification Form’ will need to be completed and signed by the adult in charge of each service project or organization. A copy of the form will be attached to this document and emailed to parents.
Each Confirmation candidate will need to request the Sacrament from the Bishop in a letter. This will be discussed further during our sessions, and students will be given guidelines. Each candidate will also have an interview with one of our priests (or deacons) at the end of the preparation process. Interview sign-ups will take place the month before Confirmation, via SignUpGenius.
Parents also have roles and responsibilities to follow before Confirmation as the primary educator of their child. It is important that you ensure they participate in Mass regularly, ideally with the entire family. Being active in their Confirmation preparation, engaging in discussions about the material being studied, and modeling responsible and active church membership is extremely important. Please pray for your child’s spiritual growth every day, as well.
