Baptism
Baptism is the Sacrament of Faith which has the Risen Christ as its source, and it is the offer of salvation for all people. Intimately linked to Confirmation and to Eucharist, Baptism is, with these two sacraments, Christian Initiation. The child is baptized in the faith of their parents, godparents and of the Church.
For more information on scheduling a baptism please review the Saint George Sacrament of Baptism guide. If you have questions or concerns please contact the Rectory Office at 814-864-0622 to speak with a staff member.

Eucharist
The Holy Eucharist is a true sacrament, instituted by Christ. Christ is really present in the Holy Eucharist, even when not being received. It is, therefore, to be honored and adored. The whole Christ is present in either kind and is received by the communicant.
For adults and youth attending a Catholic Mass, the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation must have been completed to receive the Eucharist. If you are interested in receiving your sacraments through to Confirmation please contact Deacon Bob Ball about OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults).
First Holy Communion is May 5th, 2024 at 2:00pm
First Holy Communion is traditionally celebrated in the Spring of third grade, after two years of formal instruction in the faith. Youth who are beyond third grade and have not celebrated this sacrament are required to be enrolled in the religious education program and will also participate in preparation for their First Holy Communion.

Confirmation
Just as bodies and minds grow, Catholics believe that the soul also needs to grow in the life of grace. The sacrament of Confirmation builds on the sacraments of Baptism, Penance, and Holy Communion, completing the process of initiation into the Catholic community.
2025 Schedule has not yet been released. Please check back.
There have been changes to the Confirmation process for this upcoming year. One major change is that Confirmation is in the process of being phased to 9th grade. This year, students entering 9th and 10th grades will make their Confirmation. They will need to participate in faith formation preparation classes. This includes those students who attend Catholic high school. Just as a reminder, the Diocese requires two years of preparation prior to entering the Confirmation year.
For more information please contact Mike Palmer, Director of Religious Education at 814-860-6327 or at mkpalm@yahoo.com.
Persons over 18 who have not received any or some of their sacraments and have not yet been Confirmed can attend a class in the RCIA program (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). Information about how you can register for RCIA can be found at the bottom of the page or you call Deacon Bob Ball with further questions or concerns.

Marriage
Day long Pre-Cana Retreat Scheduled for November 3, 2024 8am-4pm.
The cost is $60.00 per couple.
Please contact the parish office at 814-864-0622 to register.
Marriage is an intimate community of life and love, established by the Creator and endowed by Him with its own proper laws. God, Himself, is the author of marriage. The vocation to marriage is written in the very nature of man and woman as they came from the Hand of the Creator.
Couples wishing to get married at Saint George Church are to make arrangements through the parish priest/parish representative at least six months before the Sacrament is to take place. The couple will enter into a Marriage Preparation with the priest, as well as participating in either an Engagement Encounter Weekend, or a Pre-Cana conference. Diocesan Common Policy requires six months advance notification and attendance at Pre-Cana Instruction. Please contact the parish office to make arrangements.
If couples are completing Pre-Cana outside of the Erie Diocese they will need to provide proper documentation of the completed course to the Priest. Saint George is open to other Priests or Deacons presiding over a marriage but must first seek permission from the Head Pastor of Saint George Church. For more information please review our Guide to the Sacrament of Matrimony at Saint George Church.
“They are no longer two, therefore, but one flesh. So then what God has united, human beings must not divide.”

Reconciliation
The sacrament of Reconciliation is a sacrament in which the priest, as the agent of God, forgives sins committed after Baptism, when the sinner is heartily sorry for them, sincerely confesses them, and is willing to make satisfaction for them.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated:
- Saturdays after 8:00a.m. Mass and from 3:00pm – 4:00pm
Communal Reconciliation Services are scheduled at various times throughout the year. Other occasions can be arranged by contacting a priest. For First Reconciliation, children are prepared to celebrate this sacrament in Grade 2, prior to the celebration of First Communion in the third grade. Any child beyond 2nd grade who would like to celebrate Reconciliation can also be prepared through the Faith Formation Program.

Anointing of the Sick
The anointing of the sick is administered to bring spiritual and even physical strength during an illness, especially near the time of death. It is most likely one of the last sacraments one will receive. A sacrament is an outward sign established by Jesus Christ to confer inward grace.
If you or a loved one is in need of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick please call the Rectory Office at 814-864-0622 to arrange for this Sacrament.
“Any one of you who is ill should send for the elderly of the church, and they must anoint the sick person with oil in the name of the Lord and pray over him. The prayer of faith will save the sick person and the Lord will raise him up again; and if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven.”
James 5:14-15
